Reducing housing deficit: Stanbic partners GREDA to provide mortgage The Ghana Real Estate Developers Association
(GREDA) has partnered Stanbic Bank to provide
mortgage services at flexible rates to prospective
home owners.
It follows reports of increasing demand for new
homes primarily by the middle class and people of
other income brackets in the country.
Ghana is currently facing a housing deficit of at
least 1.7 million units.
As part of private sector efforts towards reducing
the deficit, the two institutions have launched
the First Stanbic GREDA and Housing Fair, which
will offer customers a better chance of acquiring
their preferred property on flexible terms and
conditions.
Head of Personal and Business Banking for Stanbic
Bank, Nana Benneh told STARR BUSINESS in an
interview Tuesday that: “We are offering
consumers the various options that allow them to
finance their dream homes.”
“This fair is not only about housing, it also
gives the opportunity for consumers to have access
to the requisite knowledge on all things
housing,” he added.
Executive Secretary of GREDA, Sammy Amegayibor
said: “Stanbic has added onto what we already
have; they identified the challenges that the
existing ones have and improved on it.”
“We have had situations where we have fairs and
participants lament the price restrictions, but
Stanbic Bank is offering unlimited access. So it
depends on your ability to pay,” he said.
