Wontumi's presence would shatter NDC's dream - NDC MP confesses
His contributions are enormous and ever since he
took over as the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the
New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Bosiako is
gradually establishing himself as a chief corner
stone.

Ashanti region happens to be the heart of the NPP
but recent messages from some leaders of the
National Democratic Congress appears to suggest
that they would be swooping more votes from there.
First came in the claim by the municipal chief
executive of the Ejisu/Juaben Municipality, Hon.
Yamoah Ponko that Ashanti Region is no longer the
stronghold of the NPP and that come what may,
“the NDC is likely to scoop 30% of votes from
the Ashanti Region in 2016”.

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph
Yammin followed this up with a claim that he
foresees the NDC raking in one million votes from
the region.

But from recent revelation made by the Member of
Parliament for the Asawase Constituency, Mohammed
Muntaka Mobarak, it appears the NDC has realized
that they have a mountain to climb and unfriendly
waters to swim in if Chairman ‘Wontmi’ watches
over the region.

In an address to sympathizers of the NDC, the
Majority Chief Whip in Parliament confessed that
“Chairman Bernard Antwi Bosiako(Wontumi) poses a
great challenge to the party recording the over a
million votes (NDC)they pride themselves to
achieving in the 2016 general elections”.

Speaking at the recently held Ashanti Regional NDC
Executives Elections, the Asawase MP warned party
members to work extra hard if they really want to
achieve that feat in the opposition stronghold.

A historical flashback has it that Chairman
Wontumi, recently caused the arrest of scores of
people from the Upper East Region in the Ashanti
Regional who had intended to register their names
in the limited voter registration exercise.

Although the NDC denied having an idea about the
political affiliation of the culprits, Chairman
Wontumi made it clear that they were “(NDC)
faithful whose intention was to register in Kumasi
to help the party increase its votes in the area
in 2016”.

Following the candid confession by Hon. Muntaka
Mobarak, does it mean that with Chairman Wontumi
in between the sticks, the NPP would continue to
retain their bragging right in their stronghold or
the predictions of Mr. Yamoah Ponko and Joseph
Yammin would come to pass?
