Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan will not risk injury against Togo
Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has confirmed he
wouldn’t risk himself to play in the final 2015
AFCON qualifier against Togo on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old is considered medically fit to
feature in the ultimate qualifier against the
Hawks in Tamale.

Gyan has been out of action for close to a month
with a thigh injury but has been training
sparingly with the side.

Interim coach Maxwell Konadu even hinted he could
return his top striker ahead of schedule for the
game against Togo following the side’s blunt
performance in the defeat to Uganda on Saturday.

But the Al Ain ace says he will not risk himself
to play the game on Wednesday.

“I have been training with the team and I feel
quite good,” Gyan said.

“But we have decided that I will not risk myself
for the game but I will be here to support the
team.”

Ghana will thus be without their leading scorer at
the end of their 2015 AFCON qualifying campaign.

The Black Stars will also be without stand-in
captain Andre Ayew who picked up an injury in the
defeat to Uganda at the weekend.
