Mafikizolo to consider working with “dope” Sarkodie
'Khona' hit makers, Mafikizolo, have described
Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie as one of the most
talented lyricists they have ever met.

“We had a great time with Sarkodie at the BET.
The BET experience was nice you know. He is
dope!” He is on another level. Hey! This guy! He
is on another level” Theo Kgosinkwe told Starr
Entertainment.

Now made up of lead singer and composer Nhlanhla
Nciza and her partner Theo Kgosinkwe who is also a
songwriter and a composer, Mafikizolo, originally
had a third member – the late Tebogo Benedict
Madingoane, who died in 2004 in a gun attack.

Before his demise, Tebogo Benedict Madingoane was
the only rapper in the group.

After recovering from the unfortunate loss of
their colleague, the duo went on to do a few
collaborations featuring different rappers and
vocalists including Nigeria's Davido.

Their song, ‘Khona’ featuring Uhuru has
virtually been on everyone’s lips – even
children – since it was released in 2013.

Theo said Sarkodie might be the Ghanaian act they
are likely to consider featuring if they were to
do a collaborative work with an artiste from
Ghana.

“We performed with him (at the BET) and it’s
like this guy! It’s like non-stop! Naaah…he is
a lyricist. He is on another level! …the brother
knows his stuff” Theo declared.

They also said it will be fair to consider a
female artiste as well.

“There was also this lady we saw last night.
MzVee. We saw her perform and she’s got style,
energy, she was very friendly to the crowd. And
you know what, we’ve actually never thought of
any female collaborations yet so you never
know”, said both Theo and Nhlanhla.

Nhlanhla seemed particularly interested in the
young dancehall-talent, saying the message she
puts out in her track ‘Natural Girl’ is
inspiring.

“That is just amazing, from a woman’s
perspective. That’s what we need to push. To be
natural African beautiful women that we are and we
need to be proud of that.

Mafikizolo are one of Africa's most celebrated
Afro-pop bands influenced by a South African music
genre called Kwela.

The group put up a headline grapping performance
at the 2014 Hennessy Artistry concert in Accra,
Ghana on Saturday October 18.
