Killers After Kennedy Agyapong
New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament
(MP) for Assin Central in the Central Region,
Kennedy Agyapong, has alleged that he is being
targeted for assassination in Kumasi.

He claimed some people in Kumasi had hired thugs
to take his life anytime he visits the Ashanti
regional capital.

Mr Agyapong mentioned a certain Nana and another
(Frimpong), both based in Kumasi, as those behind
the attempts to end his life.

According to the MP, Nana and Frimpong had given
GH¢8,000, as part payment to the people hired to
kill him.

He alleged that the two people wanted him dead
because they claimed he had passed derogatory
remarks about Dr Richard Anane, the Nhyiaeso MP,
and Kwadwo Mpiani, Chief of Staff in the Kufuor
Government.

Kennedy Agyapong made it clear on Hello FM in
Kumasi that Dr Richard Anane and Kwadwo Mpiani
knew nothing about the plot to kill him.

The controversial MP was said to have escaped a
similar assassination attempt earlier, when three
of his alleged attackers were gunned down by the
police.

However, the prime suspect who was arrested after
the failed attack, had been granted bail by the
police, raising suspicion about the weight of the
persons behind the attack.

The Assin Central MP said a Kumasi-based legal
practitioner, who is also a staunch NPP member,
recently informed him about the plot to end his
life.

Kennedy Agyapong disclosed that he had since then
put a spotlight on the supposed hired assassins,
whom he refused to give more information about.

He said he was aware of a series of meetings which
had been held in Kumasi, with regard to ending his
life whenever he visits the area.

Kennedy Agyapong intimated that he had not
reported the matter to the police because he
didn't have confidence in them, as a result of the
way they handled the earlier foiled attack.

The Assin Central MP said he was not moved or
afraid of the clandestine moves to end his life
'because their evil plans won't work'.

According to him, the names of the hired assassins
were on his finger tips but he would not make it
public for strategic reasons.
