Hearts appoint Mohamed Polo as new Head Coach
Accra Hearts of Oak has appointed one of its
legends, Mohammed Ahmed Polo as its new manager.

He replaces David Duncan with whom the club parted
ways some weeks ago. Polo's appointment as Hearts
manager will last till the end of the 2013/2014
football season after which it could be reviewed.

Mohammed Polo is expected to start his career as
Hearts manager within the week and would be in
charge of the team during the upcoming week13
Premiership game against Dwarfs at Cape Coast.

Born on 11th November, 1956, the new coach shares
birthday with the club that celebrated its 102nd
birthday exactly a fortnight ago.

The dribbling magician, as he is affectionately
called, holds a CAF License B certificate.

Mohammed Polo is back at the club that brought him
to fame as a footballer in the early 70s through
to the 80s and which he coached to the quarter
final of the defunct African Cup Winners Cup in
1995.

The former Ghana International has been given the
opportunity to fulfill his long wish of returning
to the club as a manager when the league resumes
on December 1st 2013.

Arguably Ghana's finest dribbler and most gifted
footballer ever, Hearts are hoping that as the
coach of the club, he would replicate his playing
success.

The former left winger was in the Ghana squad that
won the 1978 African Cup of Nations held in Ghana.
He also played for Accra Hearts of Oak in the
Ghana premier league for over 20 years.

Polo played youth football with Auroras in Accra
before signing for Hearts of Oak. Along with Mama
Acquah, Anas Seidu, Peter Lamptey and Robert
Hammond, they were known as the "Fearsome Five"
and formed the backbone of the awesome Hearts of
Oak team that twice reached the final of the
African Cup in the late 70's.

He also once played for Accra Great Olympics
football club, also in Accra.

Mohammad Polo played for the famous Dubai Club, Al
Wasl in the 1980s where the fans bonded with him
and his skills and still remember the magic 20
years after his departure.
