My new single is a getaway from elections fever - Kojo Antwi
Celebrated highlife musician Julius Kojo Antwi has
indicated that his new single is a getaway to
release tension that has characterised the
December 7 elections.

He explained that he wanted to come out with a new
song totally different from the numerous peace
songs flying in the air.

‘I am hearing too many peace songs and it scares
me, every time you hear it feels like something is
going to happen, this song is a getaway from all
the hullabaloo about the elections. Its a getaway
from all the stories about the elections. I am
saying that we will go to the elections and come
back and we will still have Ghana, so whatever we
do, we have to make sure that we protect the peace
we have in the country,’ he advised.

Speaking with host of Ultimate FM’s E-Review Naa
Klordey Odonkor, the music maestro said he is
following the new trend in the arts and
entertainment industry where singles are released
before albums hence his new single.

The ‘Afrafranto’ hit maker stated that he is
adapting to the new trend in order not to be left
out.

Mr Antwi reiterated that he released his new
single titled ‘Mi Yoo’ to herald the album
which is unusual of him as part of his game plan
for his fans to fall in love with the album when
realised.

He said the album which will have 14 tracks will
be ready soon and that he went on a dive just to
come out with new song at the right time saying
he is not driven by wanting to be seen or
happenings around him.

‘Yes its receiving massive airplay, I have a
game plan and is part of the release plan to
release the first track that will at least create
some buzz, I believe this one is doing it
perfectly so that the other songs will find it way
to people’s hearts, I mean my fans. When time
changes, you have to also change or time will
change you, the new trend is like releasing the
track out there…but now you have avenues that
when you release singles there are platforms
people can have access to download. So I think its
makes a lot of sense to go with it for a while
before releasing the album.

Actually I was hoping to release the album after
the elections, you know, but I think the flow now
is to release the album and make it accessible to
your fans as you release the other songs, then in
the long round you release the album,’ he
explained.

He called on Ghanaians to partake in the electoral
process without causing violence to mar the
successes of the elections.

Kojo Antwi said his fans should expect songs such
as Akyekyedie nantie, Africa is calling, Flyaway
Africa, Miss Mm, among others on the album.
