E/R: Driver, 19, Jailed 8 Years For Kidnapping And Defiling Girl, 13
The Koforidua Circuit Court ‘B’ has sentenced
a 19-year-old Driver to eight years imprisonment
for kidnapping and defiling a 13-year-old girl for
one month.

The convict, George Gbeve, pleaded guilty to the
offence of defilement when he appeared before
court Tuesday and was convicted on his own plea.
The convict wept uncontrollably in court after his
conviction.

The facts as presented by the Prosecutor, Chief
Inspector Bernard Annor indicated that, the
complainant, a mechanic and father to the victim
brought the victim from her former school, Ofankor
Primary in Accra to Koforidua- Asokore to continue
her education.

On September 20, 2017 the victim went missing
after she left home to go and repair her school
bag. After an extensive search by her father
proved successful, he had a tip-off from his
Mother In-Law that the victim was with the convict
at Akwadum.

According to the Prosecutor, a complaint was
lodged with the Domestic Violence and Victims
Support Units, (DOVVSU) at the Eastern Regional
Police Headquarters upon which on November 3, 2017
the Akwadum Police assisted to arrest the
convict.

During interrogation at DOVVSU, the convict
acknowledged the whereabouts of the victim and
assisted the Police to locate her in Accra.

The victim mentioned that, she was camped for one
month in the house of the convict and was defiled
throughout her stay.

Police Medical forms confirmed the act. The
convict admitted the offence but explained that
the victim is his girlfriend.
