Four armed robbers, who allegedly attacked a home
at New Dahwenya, in Greater Accra, on Friday dawn
and stole GHC40,000 and personal effects of the
occupants, have been arrested by the Tema regional
police command.

They are Mohammed Elliasu, 24, Awudu Zakaria alias
Wadudu, 24, a butcher, Bismark Owusu a.k.a Nerro,
28, and a photographer and a driver’s mate
Emmanuel Amanor, a.k.a yellow, 20.
The personal effects they stole included four
mobile phones, 11 wristwatches and wedding rings.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Tema
Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent
of Police (ASP) Juliana Obeng, briefing the media,
said the police acted upon a distress call at 1:30
am.
She said the robbers wielding a pump action gun, a
cutter and other offensive weapons scaled the wall
of the house, and broke the door with cement
blocks to have access to the rooms of their
victims.

ASP Obeng said luck eluded them and Elliasu,
Zakaria and Owusu were arrested by the Police
patrol team before they could leave the scene with
their booty.

She said Amanor had left the scene with the weapon
used in the robbery, but was also arrested later
at his hideout in Ashaiman.

According to ASP Obeng, items retrieved from the
suspects included a jack knife, dried leaves,
suspected to be Indian hemp, three live BB
ammunition, an axe and a screw driver.

The police also found on them GHC18,000,a bunch of
car keys, five mobile phones, a torchlight, three
wristwatches and a cutter.

ASP Obeng said the suspects are in police custody
