2016 polls: Chiefs must be neutral — Akosa
A leading member of the Convention People’s
Party (CPP) Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa has
condemned traditional leaders endorsing
presidential candidates ahead of the December 7,
polls.

“It's not appropriate for chiefs to endorse
candidates. They occupy such an important role in
our society that it is extremely essential they
remain non partisan in the political affairs of
the country,” he told Morning Starr host Nii
Arday Clegg Wednesday.

With barely 42 days to the polls, traditional
leaders across the country have been expressing
their support for one candidate or the other.

The recent to join the fray is Togbui Agamela IV,
the acting Paramount Chief of Peki Traditional
Council in the South Dayi Constituency, who has
endorsed Nana Akufo—Addo, the presidential
nominee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Addressing Akufo—Addo during his tour of the
constituency on Monday, Togbui Agamela IV said the
perception that “all voltarians” belong to the
National Democratic Congress, NDC, is factually
inaccurate and that some of them are sympathizers
of the NPP.

Also, Nana Odam Gyanfi III, Paramount Chief of
Akroso Asukawkaw Traditional Area in Dambai told
the NPP nominee “we are confident that change is
coming. Your victory has already been sealed in
Heaven. We pray for God’s strength, wisdom and
guidance for you.”
