Ametor Quarmyne, left and Kennedy Agyapong

You insult people by-heart and feign diabetes when arrested

It was not too clear where the argument was
headed, but two notable names in Ghana politics
– Kennedy Akompreko Agyapong, Assin Central
Member of Parliament; and Ametor Quarmyne, veteran
journalist, spoofed each other on live radio
Tuesday afternoon that left the listener with
earache.

With the two men throwing mud at each other and
with the scantest regard for their listeners as
they defended their respective political corners
– Ken for the New Patriotic Party and Ametor for
the National Democratic Congress, the skit dragged
beyond permissible limits, both in degradation and
duration.

While ‘debating’ various issues in the
political square on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen
programme, Ken Agyapong vowed he would have
slapped Hassan Ayariga, flagbearer of the All
Peoples Congress, for daring to question Nana
Akufo-Addo, NPP flagbearer’s achievements in
life and why he continues to live in his
father’s house at his age. Ayariga also wanted
65 years as a ceiling on the maximum age for all
who desired to be elected President of Ghana. On
that score he thought Nana Addo and Dr Paa Kwesi
Nduom of the Progressive People’s Party should
be disqualified because they exceeded his age
limit.

But Ken won’t have any of it, accusing Ayariga
of collecting money to do the bidding of the NDC
at the 2012 IEA presidential debate and engaging
in feigned coughing. He also questioned what
several of President Mahama’s young appointees
had achieved in life before being offered their
current jobs.

Then he went personal on Ametor Quarmyne, claiming
only until recently, Ametor wore dirty clothes, a
punch Ametor would not take lying down.

He also responded with his own prickle, telling
the controversial MP that his mother was still
wiping his butt when he, Ametor started life as a
staff of the Barclays Bank on August 14, 1974.

The rest became one insult after the other until
the host, KABA, saw fit to stop them, however that
was not before Ametor could tell Ken he liked to
insult everybody carelessly but when he is hauled
in to answer for his misconduct then he feigns
sickness, claiming to be suffering from diabetes.
