Akufo-Addo interacting with Nene Kitcher Labaia IV

It’s clear Ghanaians want change — Akufo-Addo

The 2016 flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party
(NPP), Nana Addo-Danqua Akufo-Addo, has noted that
in all the nine regions he has visited during the
first phase of his campaign tour, it became clear
that Ghanaians want change.

Nana Akufo-Addo said Ghanaians want a new
government to come into office and help change
their circumstances.

He made this observation when he paid a courtesy
call on Nene Kitcher Labaia IV, Chief of
Akplabanya in the Sege Constituency, whilst
touring the constituency on day three of his
four-day tour of the Greater Accra Region.

He said “over the years, when the votes from
Sege are announced, the NPP does not win in this
constituency. But, this year, I am convinced that
Sege will vote for the NPP and I assure you that
when this happens, there will be a change in your
circumstances.”

Nana Akufo-Addo assured Nene Labaia that “when
God gives me the opportunity to serve this
country, I am coming to do a job for Ghana. We are
not a poor country. God has blessed us with all we
need to be a successful nation.`

Progress and prosperity

“We in the NPP are not coming into office to
steal the resources of our country. We want to
return this country onto the path of progress and
prosperity, and, thereby, create wealth and
prosperity for our citizens,” he stated.

He also reiterated his commitment towards bringing
into fruition his ‘1-District-1-Factory policy,
the effective implementation of the Free SHS
policy and the revival of the National Health
Insurance Scheme.

He, thus, urged the people of Sege to vote for the
NPP’s parliamentary candidate, Divine Otoo
Agorhum.

The NPP flag bearer, on the day, also campaigned
in the Ada and Ningo/Prampram constituencies,
paying courtesy calls on the chiefs of the
respective traditional councils.He also addressed
residents in the two constituencies.

Chief of Akplabanya

Nene Labaia lamented that “our roads from
Lolonya to Toflokpo are in a deplorable state.
Anytime it rains, it becomes unmotorable. Our
women are unable to go to the market as a result.
For years we have supported the NDC, yet our roads
are bad. This is unacceptable.”

Touching on the high levels of youth unemployment
in the area, the chief stated that “this town
has a lot of graduates. However, there are no jobs
for them. The little jobs that can be found here
have all been taken over by outsiders. This cannot
continue any longer.”

Search for water

He added, “Our women and mothers leave us at odd
hours of the night and in the early hours of the
morning to go out in search of water. We cannot
continue like this.

‘’We support Nana Akufo-Addo and we will push
him into power so he can help us and change our
circumstances. We are united as chiefs and
together with our people, we will vote for
change,” the chief said.
