Fetish priest, man drown during ritual cleansing
A 40-year-old fetish priest and a man who had gone
for consultation have allegedly drowned in the Pra
River at Adansi-Asese in the Ashanti region.

According to reports, Nana Kwesi Afram had gone
to the river with 53-year-old Kwaku Donkor for
spiritual cleansing when the incident occurred.

Brother of the deceased, Kwaku Oppong in an
interview on Adom News said, the late Kwaku Donkor
has been sick for the past four years.

The ailment which he said was diabetes had gone
from bad to worse after several medical treatments
so the deceased decided to seek spiritual help
only to drown.

The chief of Adansi-Asese, Nana Kwesi Eholu
expressed shock at the incident since he claimed
the fetish priest came from Kwahu to seek
permission to perform spiritual cleansing for a
sick person.

He was convinced the fetish priest and his
patient drowned because the priest ignored his
advise not to offer a black and white goat to the
river deity.

“The Pra River likes pure black goat but this
fetish priest ignored our advise and sacrificed a
black and white goat which was why they drowned”
he added.

Nana Kwesi Eholu said the bodies have so far not
been found, but they will have to perform some
rituals as their death is a taboo.
