Don’t fill any allowance forms-GNMTA tells Nurses

The National Executive Board (NEB) of Ghana
Nurse-Midwife Trainees’ Association (GNMTA) has
called on its members not to fill allowance forms
until negotiations with government are sealed.

GNMTA bemoaned that it has received report of a
disturbing development where Trainee Nurses and
Midwives are been asked to report back to school
to fill Allowance forms.

The Association called on Trainee Nurses and
Midwives not to be enticed by the notice by
filling the forms.

After a recommendation by a technical committee,
government last week promised to pay abated
Trainee Nurses allowances.

But GNTMA in a statement said ‘This is against a
background where GNMTA is still negotiating with
the government and other relevant stakeholders to
agree on a said amount to be paid as allowance
satisfying to both parties as well attend to the
other critical issues raised by the Association.

By filling the forms, it means GNMTA has agreed
to receive such proposed amount by the committee
set up by His Excellency the President of Ghana,
and that all other plans we have streamlined to
get our concerns sorted out would be grounded to a
halt’.

Read full statement from GNMTA:

DO NOT FILL ANY ALLOWANCE FORMS UNTIL DISCUSSIONS
ARE CONCLUDED

The National Executive Board (NEB) of Ghana
Nurse-Midwife Trainees’ Association (GNMTA) has
been informed of a disturbing development where
Trainee Nurses and Midwives are been asked to
report back to school to fill Allowance forms.

This is against a background where GNMTA is still
negotiating with the government and other relevant
stakeholders to agree on a said amount to be paid
as allowance satisfying to both parties as well
attend to the other critical issues raised by the
Association.

By filling the forms, it means GNMTA has agreed
to receive such proposed amount by the committee
set up by His Excellency the President of Ghana,
and that all other plans we have streamlined to
get our concerns sorted out would be grounded to a
halt.

We therefore wish to call on all Trainee Nurses
and Midwives to stay put in any form filling and
not be enticed by that notice, by hurriedly
filling the forms.

But exercise restraint and remain calm and
resolute as we forge ahead with a United front to
lobby in order to have all our concerns and what
is long overdue us addressed to the admiration of
all.

Any student who signs this form without first
hearing from their only legal mouthpiece is not
only betraying GNMTA but by such act, is seriously
seeking to defeat all our own toils and progress
chucked so far.

Its time to show we Trainees’ are loyalty and
United, as we continue “To Do All For The Health
All Of All”.

God bless GNMTA and make our Association Great
and Strong.

With GNMTA, Emancipation of Trainee Nurses and
Midwives Through Dialogue and Philosophy of Non
Violence is guaranteed.
