NDC Parliamentary candidate halts construction of road Efforts made by the opposition New Patriotic Party
(NPP) Candidate for Upper Denkyira West
constituency in the Central Region, Samuel Nsowah
Gyan to construct the dilapidated road at Ayamfuri
has been halted by the District Chief Executive
(DCE) Ambrose Ashia for the area.
The NPP parliamentary candidate who is using his
personal money for the construction was shocked to
the marrow when the DCE instructed the contractor
working on the road to stop.
According to the DCE, the NPP parliamentary
candidate who he is battling for the Upper
Denkyira West constituency seat with him, has no
right to use his pocket money for public road
maintenance.
Ashia warned him (Nsowah Gyan) to desist from
using his money for the construction.
In an interview with ultimatefmonline.com, the
DCE debunked rumours that he has issued any such
directive on the road.
‘I have not instructed anybody, its a rumour,
people are just making stories, I have not been to
the area in a very long time, I am not aware that
Nsowah Gyan has embarked on such a thing,’ he
explained.
However, speaking to ultimatefmonline.com, the
Communication Director for NPP in the Upper West
Denkyira Asiedu Agyemang indicated that the DCE
called the Chinese contractor on phone, warning
him not to continue with the construction.
‘The DCE called the Chinese contractor on phone
not to step foot on the road again, the road is
just a street that leads to the grounds where the
chiefs and people of Ayamfuri organise their
social activities. We were given the nod by the
chief and elders to construct the road. This is
not a highway or major road, the road is just a
2-3 hour job,’ he said.
