The 2016 West African Secondary School Certificate
Examinations, WASSCE, begun today with the Oral
English paper across the country.
The examination which is usually conducted in May
/ June for final year senior high school students
and in October/November for Private candidates is
written concurrently in Ghana, Sierra Leone,
Liberia, the Gambia and Nigeria.
When 3FM visited the Accra Girls’ and the Kinbu
senior high schools in Accra, it was observed that
the examinations have taken off successful.
Heads of the various schools, however, refused to
speak to the media claiming it’s a directive
from the Ghana Education Service (GES).
Efforts to speak to authorities at the GES have so
far been unsuccessful.
Interactions with some candidate revealed that
they were not surprised with the outcome of the
paper today.
They have expressed satisfaction at the clarity of
the oral machine.
It is anticipated that this year’s examination
will be very successful.
