NPP loses Vice Chairperson in Western Region Takoradi, Feb. 9, GNA - The Western Regional
office of the opposition New Patriotic Party
(NPP), on Monday, reported the unexpected death of
its acting Regional Chairman, Mr Benjamin Kwaw,
Mr Charles Bissue, Regional Secretary of the
party, confirmed his untimely death to the media
in Takoradi on Monday and said it occurred at the
Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital after he allegedly
collapsed at his private residence at the Airport
Ridge in Takoradi.
He said Mr. Kwaw was expected to chair a Regional
Executive Committee meeting on Monday, but the
event was cancelled following the sad news. The
deceased was reported to have returned from a tour
of some constituencies in the Region recently.
NPP members and sympathizers including Mr. John
Boadu, acting National Secretary who was in
Takoradi to participate in the meeting on Monday,
thronged the residence of the deceased to console
the family.
The deceased was the substantive first vice
regional chairman of the Party, but had been
acting as the regional chairman because the
substantive chairman, Mr. Dickson Atta Nketsia,
popularly known as Kendicks, is reported
indisposed and receiving medical treatment outside
