Suhum MCE resigns for failing parliamentary bid
The Chief Executive (MCE) for the Suhum Municipal
Assembly, Samuel Fleisher-Kwabi, has resigned from
his position.

In a letter addressed to the office of the
president, Mr. Fleisher- Kwabi attributed his
resignation to the fact that any decision he may
take as MCE may be misinterpreted.

This the MCE said is because he failed the bid to
be nominated as a parliamentary candidate for the
National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the area.

“As a Chief Executive for the past seven
years I had to implement many hard but cogent
decisions of the assembly, some of which brought
fierce resistance and confrontation from some
party functionaries and executives… there
are many more of such decisions which if not
implemented could render the Assembly impotent and
ineffective; but now that I have lost the
Parliamentary Primaries, any attempt to implement
them is likely to be misinterpreted or
misconstrued,” he added.

Mr. Fleisher- Kwabi also explained that his
decision to resign is in the best interest of the
party.

He said “in order not to worsen the already
highly volatile situation, I deem it honorable to
bow out of office when the applaud is loudest and
call for my replacement in the interest of our
great party the NDC.”

“As stipulated in my letter of appointment,
I wish to seize this opportunity to serve His
Excellency the President the mandatory three
months’ notice of my resignation from
office as a Chief Executive.”

Samuel Fleisher- Kwabi also reiterated his support
for the president and the parliamentary candidate
elect of Suhum, and stated that he is ready to
avail himself for any assignment that will
“propel our Great Party into Victory come
2016.”

He, along with Dale Nettey Marbell, lost in the
NDC parliamentary primaries held last week in the
Suhum constituency to Margaret Ansei. -
