Togbe Afede XIV, Hearts Oak Board Chairman

Hearts Board Chairman ready to quit
Togbe Afede XIV says he is ready to leave Hearts
Oak as Board Chairman once anyone is able to buy
him out.

The renowned Chief of the Asogli State in the
Volta Regions has come under a barrage of attacks
from some fans of the Phobians who want his board
ousted.

The disgruntled fans claim the current board led
by Togbe Afede have failed to live up to their
promise to improve the club since their takeover
five years ago.

Togbe Afede XIV became the board chairman of
Hearts after purchasing majority of the
club’s shared which were floated in 2010.

The club’s performance on the field of play
has however deteriorated to the extent the side
escaped relegation by the skin of the teeth last
season.

This has led to a growing feeling amongst the fans
to see the back of the current leadership in the
hope that things will get better once they are
gone.

And Togbe Afede in his response to the fans says
he is prepared to walk away from the club but only
if any individual is able to buy him out in a move
which will be worth millions of dollars.

“Shares were floated and I bought majority
of it, that put me in the position I am in now as
the Board Chairman,” he said at the
club’s Annual General Meeting on
Wednesday.

“If anybody thinks he or she can do better
than what this Board is doing, then they should
come and buy my own shares in Hearts of Oak and I
will leave in peace.”

A section of the Hearts of Oak fans led by Aziz
Futa have waged a campaign to raise the needed
funds to buy out Togbe Afede XIV.

This campaign has however been ineffective with
the fans unwilling to dish out their monies
especially in the club’s current of poor
performance.
