Govt urged to assist private universities President of the Evangelical Presbyterian
University College in Ho , Rev Dr Cyril GK Fayose,
has called on government to assist private
universities and institutions with grants,
GETFunds projects and others.
According to Rev Fayose, private institutions also
pay taxes and hence must supported just like
public tertiary institutions.
“If we are such viable collaborators, then
government must support us and extend the GEFund
projects, students loans,†he said.
Rev Dr Fayose said this at the 9th Matriculation
ceremony of the EP University College in Ho.
According to him, institutions owned by churches
are not in for the money but only helping the
society and therefore need all the help they can
to develop.
Rev Dr Fayose also called on the matriculating
students to eschew laziness and other negative
tendencies that would prevent them from getting
the best out of their university education.
He informed them that the semester system operated
by the university was very challenging and
required consistent work, regular attendance to
lectures and the completion of all continuous
assessment given to them.
The formal induction into the university would
also offer the students unique opportunity to be
recognized as future alumni of the school and
enable them enjoy all the privileges offered by
the school.
The President of the university college urged the
students to put academic work first in all their
priorities and strive to set high academic and
moral standards for themselves.
Out of the 451 applications received by the
university, 300 applicants have been admitted to
pursue various programs.
Some of the applicants who applied for levels 100,
200 and 300 were also given admissions to the
university college.
