Ebi Bright

Bikini Girl Runs For MP
Since news broke last Saturday that actress Ebi
Bright has been officially confirmed as the 2016
parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic
Congress (NDC) for Tema Central, art writers and
several of her fans have expressed surprise.

Barely six months ago, the same actress was quoted
in several media reports to have announced her
entry into partisan politics but as a staunch
member of the Convention People’s Party
(CPP) and not the NDC.

In April this year, there were countless media
reports that Ebi was lacing boots to contest the
Tema Central seat on the ticket of the CPP. It
therefore came as a surprise that she emerged as
the NDC candidate for the same constituency,
having gone unopposed.

Another issue of concern is the uncertainty
surrounding her nationality. While Ebi Bright is
quoted by a section of the media to have confirmed
she is half Ghanaian and half Nigerian, other
reports quote her to have said both her parents
are Ghanaians and that she has no Nigerian blood
in her.

Meanwhile, checks showed that the lady actually
has a Bayalsa name and that her first name
‘Ebi’ actually stands for
‘Ebiere’. The full name, according to
checks, is Ebiere Bright Fasintie, the last born
of four children who grew up both in Ghana and
Nigeria.

Social media, over the weekend, went viral with
bikini photos of Ebi Bright, some of them rather
alarmingly exposing a lot of her flesh so much
that it cannot be republished in traditional print
media.

While some of the bikini photos were taken on
movie set, others were taken at one of her
birthday parties.

The photos have attracted a mixed response from
her fans on whether the Ghanaian society, and her
constituency for that matter, has a culture that
finds nothing wrong with such photos especially
when they belong to someone aspiring for public
office.
