Akufo-Addo snubs Philip Addison over petition The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana
Akufo-Addo has refused to accept a petition from
failed parliamentary aspirant of the Korle Klottey
constituency Philip Addison and his supporters
over a petition for a rerun of the primary.
Addison, who was the lead lawyer for the
three-time presidential candidate in the 2012
election petition hearing, lost woefully with an
insignificant 22 votes in last Sunday’s primary
which was won by a former chairman of the
constituency Nii Noi Nortey.
Addison and Nii Adjei Tawiah are bitter about
their defeat, accusing the party’s general
secretary Kwabena Agyepong of orchestrating their
defeat. They also mentioned in the rejected
petition that the election was characterized by
malpractices.
A petition aimed at a rerun was rejected when
Addison and his supporters stormed Akufo-Addo’s
house Tuesday to present it. According to party
insiders, the flagbearer asked the livid
supporters to resort to the right channel within
the party to register their reservations about the
primary.
Meanwhile, Agyepong has advised the losers of last
Sunday’s primary in the Korle Klottey
constituency to accept the decision of the
delegates.
Agyepong said the two must “be charitable to
accept the majority decision.”
He said the choice of the delegates must be
respected because Addison and Tawiah cannot
“impose their decision on them.” Source - Starrfmonline
