Profile: Gunman Charles Antwi
On Tuesday July 28 an Accra Circuit Court presided
over by Justice Francis Obiri slapped a 10-year
jail term on 36-year-old Charles Antwi for his
confessed attempts to assassinate President John
Mahama.

The circumstances surrounding the ruling has
occupied the media landscape seemingly deeming the
light on the personality of an individual who
arguably attempted one of the most heinous crimes
in Ghana’s history.

StarrFMonline.com has gone into history to bring
you the profile of Charles Antwi.

Profile
Charles Kwabena Antwi was born on July 20, 1980 at
Dadiesoaba, a farming community near Hwidiem in
the Asutifi South District of the Brong Ahafo
region.

He had his primary and JHS education at the
Dadiesoaba BA Presby between 1987 and 1996.

He was born to Agya Nimo and Afia Agyapomaa, both
farmers. His father is no more.

He went into second-hand clothing business at
Kumasi for a while before relocating to Tema where
he eventually proceeded to Libya and later to
Italy where he lived for 10 years.

He is believed to have returned with a mental
ailment but was able to purchase a taxi which he
operated between Dadiesoaba and Goaso until he was
banned by the GPRTU three weeks ago.

His dream was to build for his mother.
