NPP begins prayer, fasting against ‘Demons of confusion’ today
The Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party
(NPP) Otiko Djaba will lead a prayer and fasting
session today aimed at casting the ‘demons of
confusion’ out of the party.
The one-week plan to resort to God for solution to
the NPP infighting has the backing of the
flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo.
“I will not tolerate chaos within our party. The
recriminations against ourselves in this period of
healing, I repeat, must stop. On the contrary, we
should all embrace the laudable initiative of the
National Women’s Organiser who is launching, as
from this Sunday here at the party headquarters, a
week of fasting and prayers for the welfare of the
NPP.
“I have no doubt that, with the help of Almighty
God and by our collective determination, the
storms that are currently buffeting the great,
historic movement that the NPP represents will
soon subside so that it can fulfil its mission of
developing our nation in freedom,” Akufo-Addo
said last Friday.
Crossroads
The Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition is at crossroads
as party supporters gang up against the national
chairman and general secretary Paul Afoko and
Kwabena Agyepong respectively over the killing of
the party’s Upper East regional chairman Alhaji
Adams Mahama.
The Women’s Organiser of the NPP has described
the internal wrangling as a “spiritual bomb”
which requires prayers.
The Elephant family is expected to converge at the
headquarters today, May 31 to officially start the
prayer and fasting session.

Strong opposition
Meanwhile, the Founder of Perez Chapel
International (PCI) Bishop Charles Agyinasare has
led a prayer session for the largest opposition
party in Ghana following the current unrest
bedeviling them.
Preaching at the Supernatural Empowerment Summit
at the Perez Dome in Dzorwulu, Accra, Agyinasare
prayed to intercede for the NPP to remain strong
“to serve as a check on the government” ahead
of the 2016 elections.
He added: “The unity of the party at this time
was very important.”
The Bishop also asked the congregation to pray
against any spirit of confusion within the party
and prayed for peace and unity for the party. He
also prayed that what is happening will not lead
to communal violence.
