Two injured in another clash at NPP HQ A group of people claiming to be supporters of NPP
National Chairman Paul Afoko has clashed with the
party’s private security, Invincible Forces,
over control of the party’s headquarters.
The Forces stuck to their vow made last week to
keep out the party Chairman and General Secretary
from the headquarters following the death of the
Upper East regional chairman, Adams Mahama.
The NPP is in crisis with unprecedented pressure
on Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong to step aside.
Regional Chairmen, MPs, members of the NPP Council
of Elders are all mounting pressure on the
troubled two to step aside but they are
unyielding.
In yet another incident that will further deepen
the crisis in the party, the supporters of two
factions emerging in the party clashed again at
the headquarters Thursday afternoon.
The private security men, Invincible Forces, have
not been idle in the crisis but have had their
resolve tested by some youth numbering 50.
The youth who were chanting pro-Afoko slogans,
attempted taking control of the office but were
repelled by about 30 able-bodied men armed with
horse whips, Joy News' Kwakye Afreh-Nuamah
reported.
In a stone-throwing assault, the two groups
exchanged missiles Thursday but the youth proved
no match for the invincible forces.
Two of the pro-Afoko group were injured and the
windscreen of two buses have been damaged.
