“NPP needs psychologists to diagnose its crisis”- GIGS The Executive Secretary of policy think-tank Ghana
Institute of Governance and Security (GIGS), David
Agbey, believes the New Patriotic Party (NPP)
needs serious political scientists, sociologists,
anthropologists and psychologists to diagnose its
crisis.
According to the governance consultant, “there
are people in the party whose attitude are
untoward and require the advice of such crop of
experts so they can behave like natural rational
human beings.”
His comments follow moves by executives in the NPP
to get the national chairman Paul Afoko and
Kwabena Agyepong ousted.
The two have widely been accused as being
responsible for events that led to the killing of
the party’s Upper East regional chairman Adams
Mahama triggering a vote of no confidence from
some regional officers across Ghana.
However, speaking on the Ultimate Breakfast Show,
Agbey emphasised that the party’s executives are
riding on emotions and described the action as
“politically immature”.
He told the host Julius Caesar Anadem that,
“there are problems within every organisation
and there are solutions therein and they must look
for the solutions.
“The solution is not about sacking or impeaching
Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong and whoever
recommended that has done a serious damage to the
NPP.”
He explained that the feud in the party has its
roots in a certain deep seated sentiment in the
party against the two beleaguered officers since
2008 which needs to be resolved by the elders and
advisors in the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition.
He advised that the party shows leadership and
refrain from passing derogatory statements and
making unfounded allegations which he warned could
worsen the already fragile plight of the political
party. Source - Starrfm
