NPP has "failed" as a party – Kwasi Amakye Political Science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah
University of Science and Technology (KNUST),
Kwasi Amakye has said the main opposition New
Patriotic Party (NPP) has "failed" as a political
party.
In his view, the inability of the party’s
leadership to resolve the festering confusion
among their ranks is an attestation of their
unreadiness to assume the governance of the
state.
The Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition is in a state of
confusion as seven regional branches have called
for the resignation of its national chairman Paul
Afoko and general secretary Kwabena Agyepong.
The two executives are being accused of
masterminding the killing of the party’s Upper
East regional chairman Adams Mahama and causing
division in the party.
But speaking to Moro Awudu on Accra-based Radio
XYZ Tuesday, Mr Amakye said the party has failed
as a collective entity.
“We need a political system that all of us as
Ghanaians, are prepared to work with such that
irrespective of what happens, we have all agreed
on the narrative framework so that we allow the
dictates to have its own cause; so people who are
given the mandate can sit down and work without
looking over their shoulders.
“So if we can’t get this done in the political
atmosphere, then the party has failed. If a
political party like the NPP cannot put measures
in place to resolve this very trivial internal
matters, then the party has failed; absolutely,”
he fumed. Source - xyz
