BDCs Call For Presidential Probe Into BOST Allegations The Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors is
demanding a Presidential inquiry into the 2006
audit reports which cite oil distributors and BOST
for fraud.
The BDCs were accused of conniving with BOST
officials to siphon oil reserves.
The oil distributors have denied any wrongdoing
contrary to the revelations in the Auditor General
report.
At a news conference in Accra Monday, CEO of the
BDCs Senyo Hossi called on government to take
immediate steps to probe the matter further.
“The issues raised are very serious issues and
we humbly call on His Excellency the President and
the Honourable Minister of Petroleum to kindly
constitute an investigative committee to look into
the issues of reconciliation and allegations of
bribery as well as the leakage of the confidential
tape.
“It must, however, be known that this call does
not stop any BDC willing to take any legal action
against BOST to establish its liability and secure
payments from BOST, to do so.
“While we call on the formation of the said
committee, it is fair to understand that BOST will
be liable for any accruing financial costs for
delayed payments of its liabilities to BDCs.”
Hossi also questioned the credibility of the
managing director of BOST, saying his actions have
“totally crushed our confidence in his ability
to ethically and fairly engage with the industry
in his capacity as Managing Director on issues
pertaining to BDCs and BOST, as well as other
players.” Source - Daily Guide
