Furious Bantama Constituents Blame Hon. Kokofu For 2012 Electoral Woes
As New Patriotic Party members of the Concerned
Patriots of the Bantama Constituency, we wish to
entreat our leaders to institute an enquiry into
the underlisted issues; which if not investigated,
would work against our electoral fortunes in
2016.

First on our list, we would implore the leadership
of the party to investigate how the National
Democratic Congress was able to secure close to
10000 votes in the Bantama Constituency during the
2012 Elections.

Before the 2012 general elections, most voters who
were perceived to be NDC members were made to
evacuate the Race Course area and they ended up
moving to Moshe Zongo, Asuofia, Asawasi and
neighbouring areas. However, it still turned out
that the NDC as a party performed better in the
Bantama Constituency by securing close to 10,000,
a figure which remains mind boggling.

Looking at the magnitude of votes the NDC managed
to gather particularly from the Race Course area,
we as a group are being forced to give credence to
the rumours making round that our current MP, Hon.
Kokofu got compromised in his line of duty.

As a group, we strongly believe that our MP either
slept on the job or in a way, got compromised by
the NDC during the 2012 general election.

We therefore deem it appreciate for the leaders of
our party to pick the matter up and institute an
investigation into it of which we are ready to
assist.

Aside this, we also realized that during the 2012
general elections, about 45 Polling Stations
within the Bantama Constituency had their blank
Pink sheets signed by polling agents within hours
far ahead of counting of ballots.

This had a serious implication on the election
results and allowed for any figure to be put in
the signed sheets. At a conference which was held
in 25th January, 2014, our former Ashanti Regional
Chairman, Mr. F.F. Anto, reiterated a concern that
buttresses the Christian Council of Ghana’s
point that some polling agents signed the pink
sheets before election results were announced.

What broke our heart as a group is that most of
the polling agents who let us down were people
directly selected by Hon.Kokofu.

It was also within the same constituency that one
ballot box got missing at a coalition centre. Had
it not been for the vigilance of some patriotic
members of the party, we wouldn’t have been able
to trace the missing ballot box. During that trail
times when we needed Hon. Kokofu to lead us, he
was nowhere to be found.

Few weeks ago, our MP was in church and visited
some institutions to distribute items. It is good
on his part to do this service but we believe, the
impending primaries and the looming defeat has
pushed him to embark on this almsgiving.

This brings us to the issue of accountability and
we would want to know from our MP how he went
about with the distribution of motorbikes and
bicycles allocated to the constituency. Till date,
we still can’t figure out how Hon. Kokofu has
used the Common Fund, GETFund and NHIS FUND
allocated to the Bantama Constituency.

On the ground, his own constituents are asking
relevant questions and they now perceive him as a
leader who can’t add more to the party. As a
group, we don’t want to believe he has bought
into the ‘lazy’ idea that once an NPP aspirant
wins a parliamentary primary in the Ashanti
Region, it becomes an automatic verdict that he
would end up in parliament.

To us, Hon. Kokofu has been the worst performing
legislator the Bantama Constituency has ever had
since 1992. To us, his performance ratings is
NEGATIVE FIFYTY (-50) and we would want to
challenge to come out and tell the people of
Bantama what he has been able to do for us during
his time in office.

Our aim of this is Press Release, is to make way
for genuine and serious minded members of the NPP
to take over affairs and make the 2016 Elections a
victory for the party.

GOD BLESS NPP

GOD BLESS Nana Addo

THANK YOU.
