St. Johns SHS headmaster apologises to ‘afro hair’ students Authorities of the St Johns Grammar Senior High
School in Accra have apologised to the five final
year students of the school who were prevented
from partaking in the ongoing WASCE on Tuesday
because they were carrying bushy hairs.
The internal supervisor of the school, Mr Gyedu,
reportedly sacked the students from the exams hall
when they were just about writing the Christian
Religious Studies (CRS) paper.
“Mr Gyedu didn’t allow the five of us to write
the CRS paper even though we pleaded with him. He
said we were carrying bushy hair.
“Now our parents are here to probe the matter
but they are now saying that they will register us
for the Nov-Dec exams,” one of the aggrieved
students told Starr News on condition of
anonymity.
The Ghana Education Service is currently
investigating the matter.
Speaking to Accra-based Citi FM Thursday, the
headmaster of the school Emmanuel Ofoe Fiemawkle
said they are sorry for their attitude towards the
students.
Meanwhile, the GES has instructed the school
authorities to register the students for the
Nov-Dec exams. Source - Starrfmonline
