11 prisoners missing from Akuse Prisons Eleven out of the twenty-three prisoners
shortlisted to benefit from the Justice For All
Programme at the Akuse prisons cannot be accounted
for.
Their lawyer, Francis Sosu suspects the police
have deliberately transferred them to other
prisons ahead of their hearing today, Friday April
17, 2015.
He believes their possible release after today's
hearing will expose the shoddy investigations done
by the police before putting them into custody.
Speaking to Starr News, Sosu said the police are
deliberately trying to frustrate the Justice for
all programme.
“ If you look at the police reaction to the
Justice for all Programme, it leaves much to be
desired.
“Because after some prisoners were discharged
under the programme at the Koforidua prisons, it
took a long while before the police allowed them
to go.
“And when we went to the Nsawam prisons, they
did the same thing there too. Many of the people
who were discharged were not released on time. And
the Police went ahead and threatened them that
they were taking them to another court,” he
bemoaned. Source - Starrfmonline
