Ghana FA elections: "Vote for me because of my track record" - Nyantakyi
Ghana Fotball Association boss Kwesi Nyantakyi is
sure his brokerage of a peace deal in Kenya puts
him in good stead for the upcoming FA elections.

Nyantakyi was met by journalists at the Kotoka
International Airport on Tuesday after he lead a
FIFA delegation to mediate between the feuding
factions.

The background is that the Kenya Football
Federation (KFF) and Kenya Premier League (KPL)
have been embroiled in a turf for that has
inhibited the growth of football in the country
with their regular top flight suspended.

To exacerbate the problem, both the KFF and KPL
were poised to run different league competitions
at the same time over because they disagreed on
expanding the number of teams from 16 to 18.

“I think I have done well and the case speaks
for itself,” the FA boss reflected when Joy
Sports asked him what the feat meant to his
election chances.

He also said ahead of the GFA General Elections
coming up later this year, delegates with their
ears on the ground would know he would be the best
choice.

“And so, discerning minds will definitely be
influenced in deciding who to vote for when Kwesi
Nyantakyi is a candidate in the next FA
elections."

He went on: "It is true a prophet is not accepted
in his own land, but those who will be honest know
what my competence and contribution to African
football has been.”

The elections will feature what is widely expected
to be a race for the presidency between Nyantakyi
and either of his former vice Fred Pappoe or Randy
Abbey, a former FA spokesman.
