Ruby cocaine saga: NPP promises major revelations today Minority NPP in Parliament is set to open a can of
worms tomorrow over the arrest of Nayele Ametefeh,
aka Ruby Adu Gamfi, with 12 kilograms of cocaine
at Heathrow Airport in London.
The Minority believe government officials are
being economical with the truth behind the busted
young Ghanaian woman who travelled on an Austrian
passport.
The press conference in the morning would disclose
to Ghanaians some “major revelations” about
the latest cocaine saga, Deputy Minority Leader,
Dominic Nitiwul told Evans Mensah on Joy FM’s
Top Story on Tuesday.
Nitiwul stormed Parliament today with two bags of
rice weighing 12 kilograms to provide a teaser to
what the NPP has in stock for tomorrow.
His action elicited shouts of cocaine, cocaine
from both sides in a bid to score cheap political
points. This degenerated into chaos, forcing the
Speaker to suspend sitting temporarily.
The Parliamentary melee comes hours after the
Foreign Affairs Minister, Hanna Tetteh disclosed
fresh startling details about the arrest of the
Ghanaian suspected trafficker who has been
speaking to Ghanaian officials in the UK.
According to the Minister, the lady in question
said she does not know who gave her the contraband
goods neither did she know that the content was
cocaine.
But Nitiwul has rejected the Minister’s report
and cautioned her to refrain from trying to
deceive the public.
“I will dismiss it”, he asserted, and accused
the Minister of using her position to “defend
the lady”.
She shouldn’t defend her because “this lady
has embarrassed us big time”, he said.
It is not possible for someone to carry such huge
cocaine without knowing about it, he stressed.
Nitiwul is convinced there was a clear
“collusion” involving some high profile
persons he would not name. Being able to use the
VVIP lounge at the Kotoka International Airport
reserved for top government officials is evident
that a big man was involved, he stated.
An Assistant Director of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and Regional Integration, Abiel Ashitey
Armah and two others, Theophilus Kissi of the
Research Department attached to the VVIP Lounge at
the Kotoka International Airport and one Abubakar
Ahmed who were arrested by the Bureau of National
Investigations for allegedly aiding Nayele
Ametefeh were put before court today.
