Academics have failed Ghana – Adei A former Rector of the Ghana Institute of
Management and Public Administration (GIMPA),
Professor Stephen Adei, has conceded that the
intellectual community in Ghana has failed to play
its role in nation building.
According to him, the various academics in the
academia have shirked their responsibilities as
reliable sources of policy alternatives and
education.
“I want to apologise on behalf of all the
professors and lecturers in Ghana; we have not
done what is expected of us.
“Everywhere, it is the academia, freedom to
think, to write, to pronounce, and when there is a
national issue, whether is about corruption or
petroleum, it is just the call-in people and not
the voice of the intellectuals, so everybody think
that’s how it is done, there is an intellectual
content in accountability so they must wake up,”
Adei stated at an event organised by the Audit
Service in Accra, Wednesday.
He said Ghanaians must realise that nation
building is collective exercise which must not be
left for a few individuals. Source - Starrfmonline
