NDC would lose if elections were held today Head of Political Studies Department of the Kwame
Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
(KNUST), Dr. Richard Amoako-Baah has predicted the
ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) would be
kicked out of government if elections are held
today.
The political scientist stated on Accra-based Okay
fm that the current economic condition in the
country is what has led him into this conclusion.
“…the current economic conditions in the
country points to this fact which is the NDC would
lose if elections were held today…” he said.
Prof. Amoako-Baah claimed he was not seeing any
relief coming to Ghanaians anytime soon adding the
suffering of Ghanaians would move from bad to
worse in the coming days.
“With the IMF coming on board, Ghanaians ought
to prepare for more hardships because their
conditionalities would tighten things
further…,” he added.
Ghana’s team is currently in the USA negotiating
with the Bretton Woods institution for a possible
bailout.
The delegation which is led by Finance Minister,
Seth Terkper consists of the Governor of the Bank
of Ghana, the Chairman of the Parliamentary
Finance Committee, and Officials from the Ministry
of Finance and the Bank of Ghana.
Commenting on the on-going workers strike, Dr.
Amoako-Baah urged the government to call on
Ghana’s negotiating team at the IMF to factor in
the pension monies government owes workers.
He said that is also part of Ghana’s public debt
because ‘there is no way government can raise
the pensions money which he has spent.’ Source - Peacefmonline
