Gay doctor Ali Gabass heads to court today The medical doctor at the centre of the sodomy
revelations by Joy News is expected to appear
before court Friday October 24.
Dr Sulley Ali Gabass who is already in Police
custody is expected to be arraigned today after
the 48 hour permissible time for a suspect to be
detained elapses today.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Criminal
Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana
Police Sevice Assistant Superintendent of Police
(ASP) J. B Dankwa said even though investigations
are still ongoing the senior doctor at the
Effiankwanta Hospital in Takoradi in the Western
Region will appear before court today.
“We are continuing investigation and it is
likely we will send the suspect to court today,
whether or not investigations are completed. We
are enjoined by law to arraign suspects 48 hours
after they have been picked up”, he said.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Health Service has assured
the public they will not shield Dr Gabass from any
legal process being percued by the mandated
constitutional institutions in the alleged sodomy
case.
A statement jointly signed by the President of the
Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr Kwabena
Opoku-Adusei; the Director-General of the Ghana
Health Service (GHS), Dr Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyira;
and the Registrar of the Medical and Dental
Council (MDC), Dr Eli K.Atipui, said the
institutions would not only conduct thorough
investigations into the allegation but also feed
the public with the outcome of their
investigations.
Joy News' Manasseh Azure-Awuni after weeks of
investigations uncovered the horrifying deeds of
the medical doctor whose conduct has left a
16-year-old boy bedridden for several months.
The victim, whose name has been withheld has been
infected with HIV, but Dr Sulley Ali-Gabass says
he cannot be blamed for the HIV.
He says he is HIV negative and could not possibly
be the source of the virus.
The victim accepted a friendship request of Dr
Ali-Gabass on facebook, an action he has since
regretted.
Instead of mentoring him, the victim told
Azure-Awuni, the gay medical doctor had anal sex
with him on five occasions; three in his car and
two at his (doctor's) residence in Alajo.
On all occasions, he said he was threatened and
later blackmailed into submission..
His anal region has been infected, forcing doctors
to perform a surgery in order to save his life.
Manasseh Azure-Awuni after speaking to the victim,
located the Alajo residence of Dr Ali-Gabass and
had interactions with occupants of the house who
admitted it was the residence of the Effia Nkwanta
hospital doctor.
The Joy News investigator then contacted old
school mates of the medical doctor some of whom
admitted Dr Ali-Gabass exhibited gay tendencies
while at school.
And while the rumour was all over campus, none of
those who peddled the rumour had any evidence,
except for young Ali-Gabass' admiration for his
junior male friends whom he was overly protective
of.
Manasseh Awuni later visited the facebook page of
Ali-Gabass and found a write-up about gay parents
which he shared.
With this circumstantial evidence, the Joy FM
investigator confronted Dr. Ali-Gabass who
admitted to his involvement with the victim, but
described it as a mistake.
The Effia Nkwanta hospital has described the
ongoing saga as a purely private matter for the
doctor and would only act if the hospital is
petitioned. Source - MyjoyOnline
