Alan: I’m open to play any role in NPP including being running mate
Thrice-defeated flagbearer hopeful of the main
opposition New Patriotic Party, Alan Kyerematen,
has said he is ever ready to play any role in the
NPP, including being Nana Akufo-Addo’s running
mate for 2016, should the former Attorney General
name him as such.

The Economist and Lawyer, who, on Saturday lost
the flagbearer slot to Akufo-Addo, for the third
consecutive time, told sit-in host of ASEMPA
FM’s Ekosii sen political programme, Captain
Smart that he will play any role which the party
deems him fit to occupy.

His comment was in response to a direct question
posed to him by Captain Smart about whether he
will avail himself of the opportunity to be
running mate to Akufo-Addo in case the three-time
flagbearer settled on him for the job.

According to the former Ambassador to the United
States, if he saw himself as fit to be President
of Ghana, and thus has ran for the NPP’s
flagbearer slot thrice, then being a Vice
Presidential Candidate was a no-brainer.

Kyerematen polled a little more than 4 percent of
total votes cast by tens of thousands of delegates
at the presidential primaries at the weekend.
Akufo-Addo won the day with a little more than 94
percent of votes. A third candidate, Francis Addae
Nimo, got less than one percent of the votes.

Kyerematen has, since pledged his full support to
Akufo-Addo. He visited the twice-defeated
presidential candidate at his Nima residence in
Accra on Tuesday to cement his support for him.
