Blame Kufuor fFor Alan's 'woeful' defeat - Ben Ephson Pollster Ben Ephson has blamed former President
John Kufuor for the gargantuan defeat suffered by
Alan Kyerematen during NPP’s congress on
Saturday.
According to the editor-in-chief of the Daily
Dispatch newspaper, Kufuor’s open support for
Kyerematen’s bid in 2008 has affected his
electoral fortunes.
“What I know for a fact is that there is a
certain dislike for Alan and Alan is bearing the
sins of his political mentor Kufuor. You know
Kufuor distanced the NPP party from the NPP
government and he coming out openly in 2007 to
support Alan Kyerematen has not helped Alan,”
Ephson said.
Kyerematen on Saturday suffered his third defeat
in the party’s flagbearership elections after
picking his worst ever vote percentage in the
delegates congress held across the nation.
Kyerematen managed a meagre 4.75 percent as
compared to 19.91 percent in 2010 and 32.30 in
2007.
His closest contender, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
won overwhelmingly with 94.35 percent to be the
flagbearer ahead of the 2016 general elections.
Ephson who recently joined Starr FM with
‘Ephson’s file’ said the NPP would have even
lost the 2016 elections if the delegates had
elected Alan Kyerematen. “If Alan had won, NPP
would have lost 2016. What work has been done to
show that Alan appeals to the floating voter? No
work. I am yet to sight any research”. Source - Starrfmonline
