KMA Builds Database Of Atonsu Market Traders To Ensure Equity The Kumasi metropolitan assembly has given
assurances the Atonsu Market Reconstruction
Project in Kumasi is still on course despite
stalled work at the site.
Demolition of the existing structures to make way
for the commencement of the project hit a dead-end
a month ago after the traders threatened a naked
demonstration to halt the exercise.
The market women who at the time spoke to Ultimate
Radio expressed fears they would be cheated and
would not be offered stalls at the completion of
the market.
However speaking to ultimate radio, public
relations officer of the metropolitan authority,
Godwin Okumah- Nyame indicated that dialogue with
the traders had so far proved fruitful.
He said a consultant for the project had begun
taking details of the traders so they become the
priority for any allocation of stalls in the yet
to be built market.
“After that database is completed, the team will
sign an MOU with the traders so that after the
construction, they will be the first people to be
allocated the stalls at Atonsu,” he assured.
He added that the assembly is bent on carrying out
its demolishing exercise in the coming days. Source - Ultimate Radio
