Oyokoman Gets Kyidomhene Nana Boahen Anokye II has ascended the Aduana
Stool of Oyoko which had been vacant for the past
two years following the death of his predecessor.
This brings to an end the two-year-long contention
over who was the next of kin.
Per the customs of the people, Nana Anokye II
becomes the Kyidomhene of Oyoko.
Prior to his swearing-in, a contender of the stool
sought to stop Nana Boahen Anokye II from swearing
the oath of allegiance to the Oyokomanhene, Nana
Kodua Kesse.
However, Nana Kodua Kesse, who is also a member of
the Council of State, pointed out emphatically
that nothing was going to prevent Boahen from
swearing the oath of allegiance.
Swearing the oath, Nana Boahen Anokye II said he
would serve the chiefs and people of Oyoko as well
as Juaben in his capacity as the Kyidomhene,
stressing that he would make himself available to
the people at all times – whether rain or
shine.
Nana Kodua Kese wished the Kyidomhene a successful
reign and urged him to use his authority to ensure
unity amongst his people.
He prayed that the young chief would be blessed
with long life.
The Gyaasehene, Agyehene Acheampong, made it clear
that as the custodian of the Aduana Stool, Nana
Boahen Anokye II had a herculean task of working
to gain the support of all feuding factions within
the community and uniting them for development.
He noted that even though such efforts would not
come easily, with God he would surmount every
hurdle.
After the short induction ceremony, the new chief
gracefully addressed his people at his private
home where he received congratulatory messages.
Nana Boahen Anokye II used the occasion to
announce his passion for education. He said
education was key in the development of the
nation.
He promised his widow's mite towards educating the
youth of Oyoko, stressing that he would personally
sponsor students who were able to make aggregate 6
to 9 in the Basic Education Certificate
Examination (BECE) to continue to any senior high
school (SHS) of their choice.
He also tasked the people to take sanitation
issues seriously as the outbreak of cholera and
other killer but preventable diseases such as
malaria, were the result of living in filthy
environment.
Nana Boahen Anokye II pledged his commitment to
peace and unity in the community and enjoined the
inhabitants to support him.
Nana Boahen Anokye II is known in private life as
Peter Boahen and affectionately called by his
peers as Kwame Peter. He is domiciled in Canada. Source - Daily Guide
