'Mahama Is Worst President' Chairman of the Nigerian branch of the New
Patriotic Party (NPP), Kofi Atiemo-Gyan says
President John Mahama is the worst leader the
country has ever had.
'This is the worst government in the country's 57
years history of nationhood. Under President
Mahama, the socio-economic conditions in Ghana
have degenerated, with a struggling cedi,' he said
during an interview with DAILY GUIDE.
According to him, 'This has never happened in the
history of Ghana, people have to go through such
hardship. It is very difficult for people to get
even two square meals in Ghana now.'
He said, 'This is a government which has been
contracting loans from left to right; the loans
are not being utilized for the purposes for which
they were obtained.'
He stressed the need for proper accountability
from government officials.
Mr Atiemo-Gyan said nobody should be misled that
the Mahama-led NDC administration was working to
improve the country's economy.
'Anybody who thinks the government is working must
be examined by a psychiatrist because he is not
feeling what Ghanaians are feeling.'
'What is the use of expanding the Tamale Airport
when you can't afford two square meals a day;
essential services for this country is nil,
ordinary water, they don't have. So what is the
benefit of expanding the Tamale Airport?' he
quizzed.
'The economy is bad; the dollar has virtually made
the cedi non-existent. This has never happened in
the history of Ghana,' he noted.
He said, 'The government going to IMF for bailout
is very annoying because they will bring the
bailout and there will be nothing to show for it.
It will all end up in people's pockets. Go and see
how the ministers and other appointees are
acquiring property left, right and centre, where
did they get all those monies from.'
The NPP man said 'they are only interested in what
goes into their pockets and chopping anyhow. That
is why I always say there should be accountability
immediately after leaving office, they should not
be made to hand over like that.'
'Look at what happened at the Sports Ministry
under the former Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah. If
this happened in any civilized country, these
people would have resigned but here are they going
up and down collecting huge allowances,' he
emphasized.
He therefore called for the establishment of a
vetting committee to investigate government
officials when they exit office, adding that
'whatever they took or acquired whilst in office
through fraudulent means should be confiscated for
the state and they should be made to face
prosecution.' Source - Daily Guide
