$19,831.00 spent on purchasing agent in Brasil Accra, Sept. 15, GNA – Mr. Larry Acheampong,
Special Assistant to former minister of Youth and
Sports, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, has disclosed that,
an amount of $19,831.00 was paid as commission to
Al Continental, a purchasing agent that aided
officials of Ghana to buy food items whilst in
Brazil.
Mr. Acheampong told the Justice Senyo Commission
of Inquiry that, the amount represented 10% of
commission on the total amount of food stuffs
purchased each time they visited the supermarket.
According to Mr. Acheampong, the Ghana delegation
visited the super market on five occasions and
paid commission on total amount of food stuffs
purchased.
He added that, the agents were responsible for the
directions to supermarkets to make purchases hence
the commission.
His revelations seemed to have amazed the
commissioner, who asked of the essence of series
of trips to Brazil before the competition.
According to Mr. Acheampong, they were compelled
to rely on the agents due to language barrier and
direction around town.
Mr. Acheampong however, said he was not aware of
the cost of food items purchased each time, adding
that, Fred Darko, the Project Coordinator will be
able to give the commission the exact cost of food
stuffs.
He also denied receiving an email from a super
market on the cost of food stuffs purchased.
“My Lord, what Mrs. Quarshigah told the
commission earlier was a lie. I did not receive
any email on the cost of food stuffs from the
super market,” he said. Source - GNA
