President asks envoys to advertise Ghana Accra, GNA - President John Dramani Mahama on
Friday advised Ghanaian envoys to advertise the
nation by portraying the good virtues that had
over the years placed the West African country on
the world map.
He said: "As representatives of Ghana we expect
you to use your experience and influence to work
in partnership with your respective countries to
bring mutual benefits."
President Mahama said this when he swore-in and
presented letters of credence to two new envoys
who are embarking on their duty tours to the Czech
Republic and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The envoys are; Mr William Azumah
Awinador-Kanyirige, Ghana's High Commissioner to
Nigeria and Mrs Saba Zita Okaikoi, Ambassador to
the Czech Republic.
President Mahama said the Czech Republic has been
a major partner of Ghana by contributing immensely
towards Ghana's industrialisation programme under
Dr Kwame Nkrumah's administration.
He mentioned the GIHOC Shoe Factory in Kumasi,
Aboso Glass Factory and the ceramics factories as
some of the projects the Czech Republic helped in
establishing in Ghana.
President Mahama urged Mrs Okaikoi to leverage the
cordial relations to create a fertile ground for
the more cooperation.
On Nigeria, the President said it is not only the
largest country in the Africa, but also the
largest economy and working in partnership with
the country would solidify the already good
relations.
He said although government is having challenges
in the acquisition of accommodation for the
Missions, the Ministry of Finance is working hard
to settle the issue on permanent basis.
Mrs Okaikoi, on behalf of her colleague commended
President Mahama for challenging them with their
appointments.
She gave the assurance that they would work hard
to justify the confidence reposed in them. Source - GNA
