Policeman Declared Wanted
Police said issuance of a warrant of arrest on
Corporal Hope Katsekpor, who hails from the Volta
Region, became necessary following his
disappearance after he, together with Corporal
Tsey Mensah - who was in police custody - had
allegedly aided in loading some 4,000 bags of rice
from the warehouse, owned by Saphods Ventures,
into two different Man Diesel trucks.

The trucks had been registered GT 5985 R and GR
6477 H. Four suspects were arrested by the Tema
Police Patrol Team when they were about to leave
the warehouse located near Aluworks, upon a
tip-off.

The suspects, whose names were given as Jahlilu
Yahaya, 25; Bawa Ibrahim, 23; Godwin Atanu, 25 and
Stephen Akwasi Djan 25, were said to have
disclosed the identities of two of their
accomplices who happen to be the police officers,
saying they provided cover while the crime was
being perpetrated, after they had assaulted a
security man on duty.

Corporal Tsey Mensah has been arrested by the Tema
police pending further investigations for onward
prosecution as his caution statement was said to
have been taken. He is behind bars but Corporal
Katsekpor was reported to have absconded as police
has launched manhunt for his arrest.

A Nissan Patrol 4×4 with registration number GT
8890 G, which was allegedly discovered to be
owned by Corporal Katsekpor and used for the
criminal operation, was impounded by the police
together with the long vehicles loaded with the
goods.

The Command appealed, 'the Tema Police Regional
Command is requesting anyone with useful
information about how the suspect (Corporal Hope
Katsekpor) can be tracked to report to the
Regional Police Command or any nearest police
station.

'He is about five feet three inches tall, about 36
years old and fair in complexion.'
