Heavy rains in Daboya render hundreds homeless Hundreds of residents in Daboya in the North Gonja
District of the Northern Region have been
displaced by a rainstorm that hit the area
Sunday.
The downpour that lasted for more than two hours,
destroyed property worth thousands of Ghana cedis,
Joy News' correspondent Hashmin Mohammed reports.
The roofs of more than 100 houses and 28 classroom
blocks in five basic schools in the District-
Daboya DA JHS, Marikaziya primary school, Asafo
JHS, Parabiya and Salsiyat primary schools- had
their roofs ripped off completely.
The torrential rain also wreck havoc to the roof
of four mosques and houses of police officers and
the District police station.
Electrical appliances such as refrigerators
television sets, electrical poles, food stuffs and
clothings of residents were also destroyed in the
rainstorm.
The affected victims are living with friends,
family members and relatives in the area.
District Chief Executive for North Gonja Sekoute
Yahuza told Joy News that the assembly is
overwhelmed by the extent of damage to property.
He therefore appealed to central government and
other nongovernmental organizations to come to the
