We win all the debates in Parliament but we lose the votes – Minority Leader Minority Leader in Parliament Osei-Kyei
Mensah-Bonsu has extolled the performance of New
Patriotic Party’s Members of Parliament (MPs) in
debates in the House, pointing out that only their
numerical strength disadvantages them.
“As usual, we win all the debates in Parliament
but we lose the votes because of our numbers,”
the Suame Constituency MP said on Saturday, April
12 in his message to delegates at the 2014
National Delegates’ Conference of the party.
Five thousand two hundred and sixty-five delegates
have gathered at the Tamale Sports Stadium to
elect executives to manage the party’s affairs
until 2018.
In his message, Mr Mensah-Bonsu pressed home the
need for the party to get more seats in
Parliament.
“We certainly need more seats in Parliament and
I will strongly urge and plead with you, herein
gathered, that we should hold fast what we have in
our hands today while we go out to win more seats
for the party,” he passionately appealed to the
delegates.
He said the country is yearning for the return of
the NPP “to salvage it from the dire economic
circumstances that are afflicting us.”
Listing high cost of living, increases in fuel
prices, filth and inflation as some of the signs
of economic turmoil the country finds itself in,
Mr Mensah-Bonsu said Ghanaians would want to see
the NPP return to power.
“We cannot and dare not disappoint Ghanaians,”
he emphasized.
“If by our own commissions and omissions we
should lose the 2016 elections, it will be
disastrous for the party and, more importantly,
for the country,” he predicted.
The Minority Leader, therefore, asked delegates to
bear in mind the 2016 elections as they elect
executives for the party. Source - TV3 Network
