Gen Mosquito: I knew Sir John was going to loose massively
General Secretary for the ruling National
Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah
says he knew deep down within his heart that his
friend and former Chief Scribe of the New
Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie will
be “booted” out from office.

According to him, though ‘Sir John’ loss never
came to him as a surprise, he was amazed that he
could manage to poll 1990 votes at the just ended
conference in Tamale.

“I am not surprise he [Sir John] lost…never!
Even the votes he polled were too much. I knew
very well that he was going to be defeated same as
Jake Obetsebi Lamptey [former NPP chairman],” he
said.

He however added that, as the good he was, he had
wanted to advise Sir John to forgo seeking
reelection, but knowing very well of his [Sir
John’s] character, he kept that good counsel to
himself.

Speaking on Adom FM, the NDC Chief Scribe also
known as ‘General Mosquito’ opined that
despite the NPP’s overhaul of its national
executives, the NDC is not troubled in anyway.

“Even Sir John wasn’t able to match me boot
for boot when he and his executives were elected
some years back. The NDC is not scared of the NPP
and their new executives. They [NPP] have selected
their team for 2016 but they should remember that
the NDC is yet to select theirs. The NDC will
forever be stronger than them,” he said.

He also cautioned the newly elected NPP General
Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, that if his strategy
is to pit himself against him [Asiedu Nketiah],
then he will “fail”, adding that the change in
guard of the NPP’s National Executives, might
affect the ambition of its two-time presidential
candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to become
the next flagbearer of the party in 2016.
