John Dramani Mahama

Mahama to outdoor running mate today
President John Dramani Mahama will today announce
his running mate as the ruling party enters the
crucial December 7 polls.

Whereas pundits have argued that it will be unwise
to opt for a new running mate aside Paa Kwesi
Amissah-Arthur who was chosen barely five months
to the elections, it is believed that there are
also some elements in the ruling party who object
to the choice of Amissah-Arthur as Mahama’s
running mate for the polls due to what they
described as his political inactivity in the
previous years.

According to a statement issued by the John Mahama
2012 Campaign Office, President Mahama will
officially introduce his running mate today; a
move which will mean the former Vice-President has
put all his cards on the table in a bid to retain
political power which was won by his late
predecessor, John Mills.

The statement which was signed by Trade Minister,
Hanna Tetteh, who is also the Communications
Director of the recently composed John Mahama 2012
Campaign Office was silent on who will ultimately
emerge as the vice-presidential candidate of the
NDC come December 7.

Although their main opponents, New Patriotic Party
took the lead in outdooring both their
presidential and vice candidates, the death of
former President Mills took the wind out of the
sails of the ruling party thereby jostling their
electoral calendar further.

The announcement of Mahama’s running mate is
expected to cap what has been described as a
classy nationwide tour which affirmed that the
Better Ghana Agenda of the NDC government was not
stunted as the oppositions parties have
continuously bemoaned.

President Mahama, who was overwhelmingly endorsed
at the party’s special congress last month, is
also expected to name his vice, who together with,
will ensure they make the December 7 polls a
“one-touch” victory just like they have
predicted.

The venue for the announcement of the running mate
is the National Theatre with the event scheduled
to commence around late afternoon.
