President Mahama ends nationwide “Thank you tour”
President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday ended
his nationwide tour to thank Ghanaians for their
assistance and support to government towards the
final funeral rites of President John Evans Atta
Mills.

The President began his tour in the Central and
Western Regions, through the Volta and Eastern
Regions, the Brong Ahafo and Upper West regions
before moving back to the Northern and Upper East
Regions.

His penultimate trip was at the Ashanti Region,
where he broke for some time to make way for the
Special National Delegates Congress in Kumasi,
where he was massively endorsed as the 2012
Presidential candidate for the National Democratic
Congress.

President Mahama after the National Delegates
Congress also embarked on a West African nations
tour, which took him to Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso,
Togo, Nigeria and Benin, where he thanked the
Presidents and people of those countries for their
participation in the final funeral rites of
President Mills.

The Greater Accra Regional tour which climaxed the
national and sub-regional tour took him to
Prampram, Dawenya, Ashaiman, Nungua, Teshie, La,
Chorkor, Jamestown, Makola market, Kantamanto,
Agbogbloshie, Kaneshie, Mallam Atta, Nima and
Maamobi.

During the tour, President Mahama advised the
chiefs and people not to engage in politics of
insults, but to conduct campaigns based on ideas
and issues.

He urged Ghanaians to consider themselves as one
people with a common destiny and not to allow
themselves to be divided by partisan politics.

With the end of the tour, it is expected that
President Mahama would kick-start his political
campaign to retain power in the December 2012
Presidential and Parliamentary general election.
