Farmer Sentenced To Death
A Kumasi High Court presided over by Justice R.C.A
Azumah has sentenced Mimlib Dutt, a man who
murdered his girlfriend Aisha Lambon, two years
ago under a bizarre circumstance in a village near
Ejura, to death by hanging.

The convict, a farmer at Kobriti, a farming
community near Ejura in the Ashanti Region and a
native of Bunkprugu, was charged with murder
contrary to section 46 of Act 29/60.

The 31-year-old convict pleaded not guilty to the
charge.

Presenting the facts of the case to the court,
Prosecuting State Attorney Mrs. Marie
Louise-Simmons said on June 14, 2010, the accused
person intentionally caused the death of Aisha who
was his concubine.

According to her, the deceased and the convict
were in a relationship out of which they had a
child but the child died immediately after the
demise of the mother.

Prior to the dastardly act, the convict became
jealous and threatened to exterminate his lover
after she planned to end her relationship with
him.

All efforts by the convict to reunite with Aisha
proved futile, a situation which compelled Dutt to
disclose to one Yankah that the community would
hear strange news.

True to his word, the prosecutor said, the convict
shot her lover in between her breasts after she
had gone out for a spraying machine.

Some residents who heard of the gunshot ran to the
scene only to find the body of Aisha lying in a
pool of blood, without the convict at the scene.

Prosecution said after committing the heinous
crime, the convict hid his gun in a wooden bath
house but with the help of the police, the gun was
retrieved.

Dutt was charged with the offence after
investigations.
